Description
Combining features from Agave, Hesperaloe and Yucca, this plant may be forming its own genus.
Seen in growing wild in Southern California and North West Mexico it can tolerate severe freezes and is tolerant to drought.
It forms a dense rosette of narrow silvery-blue leaves.
Maturity is reached at between four and eight years, where the plant pools all its resources into flowering, before seeding and dying.
The majestic inflorescence can rise to 5 metres / 16 feet tall in the wild.
The fragrant flowers open slowly into pendant shapes, white with purple tinges.
